During the past few months Thunderbird has started with the first few minutes of use when I start reading my newly received messages. The program sometimes clears in 1-2 minutes and sometimes I need to close and restart. In both cases the top message in the inbox now goes to the bottom of the inbox with a date of 1/1/69. This happens when the message in the unified inbox comes from multiple different accounts. I figure that this has something to do with corrupted headers but I have compacted and deleted the .mbf files and nothing has helped. My accounts are IMAP and I about to do the nuclear option and delete Thunderbird completely and start over unless somebody has another suggestion.

What is your anti-virus software?

You'd just be wasting your time. Profile files are stored separately from the Thunderbird program files. The program files are static and do not change (except when you upgrade the Thunderbird application version). Because we store profile and program files separately, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing your messages and settings, and if something goes wrong with a Thunderbird update your information will still be available. It also means that you don't have to reinstall Thunderbird in order to delete your information or troubleshoot a problem.
