Messagepane fontsize runs wild!

Some mails I get mails show different (monospace) font sizes despite the fact that I set it to monospace, here "15". HTML is disabled. Message is set to "text" all the time.

I want a monospace font, same size all the time, no HTML at any time. The Add-on Theme Font & Size Changer changes more than I want.

I fiddled a bit with userContent.css, but not with consistent success. What code should be in there to display consistently only any monospace font at the size I set for the messagepane?

System: Thunderbird 52.3.0 in Ubuntu

Chosen solution

View > message body as > plain text. should take care of it.

When you set your font size did you go into the advanced and deselect the option to allow messages to use other fonts? It does not sound like it.

I tell you.

It isn't that Thunderbird is new for me. The problem turned up when I did a fresh Thunderbird installation.

For two days I tried to set Thunderbird the way it worked before I run into the problem with monospace. userContent.css was just another experiment.

What it finally corrected it: I threw out userContent.css. I rechecked all font settings in Thunderbird. I cleared the cache and decided to click "View message body as HTML" Restated Thunderbird Reclicked "View message body as plain text", and suddenly all messages were in plain text with "monospace 15" So, problem solved. Why, not idea.

Thanks Peter
