I'm using the older version of Windows Live Mail (there is no Go tab) and cannot figure out how to transfer my contacts to thunderbird. I also have a Gmail account and can import from there also. Please give a step by step instruction on the process. Thanks!

Thunderbird can impost a contact list in a .csv file type. You will have to ask Windows Live how to export them.

So how do I make a .csv file and how do I then import it. Step by step please. Thanks, bill

You create the file at Windows Live when you export your contacts. I do not use it but I Googled for you. Looks like you can use vCards also. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1158501

I downloaded the "More Functions" file but I have no idea how to install it in FB

You install it in Thunderbird. No idea what FB is. There is a link in the other thread that says How to Install. Follow that.

Sorry, meant to say TB, referring to Thunderbird. What "other thread" do you mean?

I'm sorry to keep coming back to you for help. I'm not tech savvy. Can you walk me through the procedure to download and install the necessary files to transfer my contacts from Windows Live Mail to Thunderbird

more options

There are two main steps.

1. Export from your old email program to a suitable file 2. Import that file into Thunderbird.

This is a support forum for Thunderbird. We can try to help you with part 2. The other thread talks a bit about part 1, but if you need more help with that you're more likely to find it on a Windows Mail support forum.

I would urge you to work through what it says under "Chosen solution" in the other thread. Then tell us exactly where you have trouble.

Some of the advice you're being pointed to is my very own website, so if there is anything specific there that is unclear or confusing, I can try to clarify and improve on it.

I've been on this all day and I just can't make it work. After exporting my addresses into the vcf file, for some reason I cannot "select all" when I try to import them. What am I doing wrong?
