"Forget about browsing history" button doesn't seem to do the job

more options

Hi all, when I use the "Forget about some browsing history" button, it doesn't seem to delete the cookies, because I'm still logged in to all the websites as before. I thought deleting the cookies would mean I'd have to login again (it used to be like that a few weeks ago). Is this a bug or a feature? I'm using the latest version for Linux (59.0.2). Thanks!

Suggest review your settings there and experiment to what works for you.

I had "Always use private browsing mode" enabled. I changed it to costum settings with "clear (all) history when FF closes". Now the "forget..." button works as it should.

That makes sense. In Automatic Private Browsing mode, cookies are held in memory in a "private windows" cookie jar. I guess the regular controls for clearing history and cookies don't apply.

Hi, If you are logged into any of the sites when you press "Forget about History" it should delete all cookies but it is possible that since logged into sites it is keeping them. Not a bug or a feature, just a glitch I would think and also possible how your settings for cookies are in Options-->Privacy & Security--> History. Suggest review your settings there and experiment to what works for you. I have no cookies once I close Firefox other than the ones I have adjusted for and accepted, then have made changes again there. I need to do this each time I want special cookies for features or logins. So there are many combinations you can have and do and this maybe the reason "Forget..." is not working as you wish it to. Test and let us know if need further help.
