Did you download firefox from the repository or nightly from the firefox site itself?

The "Options/Preferences -:> Search" page works for me on Linux in the current Nightly build and using search in the location bar works as well directly via keyword.enabled and via a keyword search.

Can you search using a keyword search (e.g. g firefox)?

There can be issues with the Enter key in the location bar when all suggestions have been disabled.

Did this worked before in Nighty?

Keep in mind that Nightly is alpha and can get broken at any time. In a lot of cases it starts working again in a few days.

May be related for reading.

Bug 1460190 - Firefox Nightly can't open site after typing address into address bar, and can't open search engines in search bar.

A place to keep track of fixes and discussions of issues in Nightly builds is in the Builds threads in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23

The May 8 build is old now as Nightly gets checkins with two updates each day and sometimes a respin. Sometimes there can be issues until fixed, finished or reverted.

Thank's. It seems it was a bug and it resolved one hour ago. Maybe in next build all was OK.

i am glad the bug was fixed for you. if it happens again remember to look up what happened by running firefox in the terminal and seeing what the verbose (this will be done automatically) terminally output says is happening (if anything) and pasting it and linking it in pastebin.mozilla.org and letting us know.

thanks and have a good day
