How to clear entries that appear as suggestions on typing into search bar

When typing into the search bar, suggestions (based on past site visits) are made as to what site I might want. Then a list of past visited pages drops down. I wish to purge this list — HOW?

Location bar or search bar on Navigation Toolbar or a search in the browsing area (e.g. Firefox Home page)?
