Running Windows 10. Recent update I lost most of my pending and storage contents. My attempts to restore through Profile APPData not successful to the point I gave up. Old guy, not too computer literate. Now getting an update message when I start Thunderbird and after I decline I get the message that it "can't update to latest version, download fresh copy & we will help install." Again I have declined as I am reluctant to do this and lose more email files however as I choose not to update, I continue to get the messages every time I open Thunderbird which is annoying. I would like the original files back and update Thunderbird and have no more problems.

Uninstall Thunderbird now you are using (won't affect the profile folder), and download and run the installer for 60.9:

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/60.9.0/win32/en-US/

Check that you don't have some kind of 3rd-party software updater, e.g. Kaspersky, updating to 68.
