Attachments
In an online chat i saw a reference to detaching attachments. It said that you could have your attachments all go to a file on your computer, to save space in the Thunderbird application. But I can't find out how to do that in the Help anywhere...

I was looking in Thunderbird Help and did not find that answer. And it didn't suggest that I do a Google search. And I was looking for a way to detach attachments from a group of selected messages of a whole folder of messages.

To save or detach from multiple messages or a folder, try this add-on:
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/attachmentextractor-continued/

Thank you for trying to help! But when I download and try to open in Firefox, it says that it cannot be opened because it has not been verified. Should I just keep trying over the next few weeks (months?) to see if it eventually lets me download it?
You want to install it in TB, not Firefox. Drag the green Download button from the webpage and drop it onto Tools/Add-ons/Extensions in TB. Or, type attachment extractor in the search box in Tools/Add-ons/Extensions.
