When you say there is no open browser, this is a Mac thing, that you can close all the Windows but Firefox doesn't quit automatically, you need to Quit from the Firefox menu. So Firefox is still running.

Firefox makes connections for its own reasons as described in this article: How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections.

For the first one, Mozilla does run some workloads on the Amazon cloud. For more information about what it is, you need to know the original host name requested. If that isn't being logged anywhere, you could try to extract it from the DNS system somehow. ??

The second one is Cloudflare. Similar issue with knowing why.

jscher2000, That is the point of my test. FF is not performing any communications I requested and I only see the destination which is encrypted. these established connections are being performed by FF.

I want to know what communications FF is doing when I do not have any browser tabs open. The data is encrypted going to the destinations. I would expect with nothing opened no connections would be established.
