The other day I deleted the 'save bookmarks' icon in the search bar and can't seem to get it back. That's on a new tab. If I go to Firefox help, when the new tab opens, everything seems to be there. I've looked at this for so long I'm lost. Can anyone help?

Just a side note, if I open a bookmark link, everything's there in the toolbar, if I open a new tab, it's empty.

Firefox only shows the star on the location bar if you have opened a valid URL in this tab.

You may have accidentally removed the star via the right-click context menu (Remove from Address Bar). You can find items like "Take a Screenshot" and the Bookmark Star in the drop-down menu that opens if you click the "Page actions" button (3-dot icon at the right end of the location/address bar). You can right-click an item in the 3-dot "Page actions" drop-down list to add its button to the location bar for easy access.

You can add the "Bookmarks Menu" button that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list to the Navigation Toolbar via these steps:

  • click the bookshelf 57 library icon icon on the Navigation Toolbar or alternatively use the Library menu in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button New Fx Menu drop-down list
  • click Bookmarks
  • click "Bookmarking Tools", then click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
The Bookmark Menu button Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) should appear on the Navigation Toolbar.

You can also drag the Bookmarks Menu button from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar
