You can change the password on your Firefox Account after you log in to your account, and you do not lose data. However, if you reset your Firefox Account password without logging in first, then the data on the server is deleted. That should not delete data from your Firefox, but I guess there is no guarantee.

Are you signing in to Pocket with your older Pocket login or your Firefox Account login?
