Every Tab shows a title "Connecting ..." all the time even a web page is fully opened. Reinstall Firefox 4.0 temporally fixed this problem, but it reverts to "connecting ..." again after restart the PC. What went wrong?

System:

  • Windows XP Home Edition, version 2002, service pack 3
  • Compaq Presario desktop
  • AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 2.16 GHz

Problem:

  • Installed Firefox 4.0, worked fine with tabs showing their right titles, such as "CNN".
  • After restarted PC, all tabs showed "Connecting ..." all the time for all the sites I visited. All web contents were properly displayed.
  • Re-installed Firefox 4.0. All tabs showed their right titles again.
  • After restarted PC, all titles reverted to "Connecting ..." all the time again.
  • Repeated re-installation again, the problem came back again after restarted the PC.

Chosen solution

I too have this problem and I guess its the tabrenamizer add-on. The only fix that I have seen is to disable this add-on, but I rely on this add-on. Has anyone found any other fix to this?

Indeed, it is a "tabrenamizer" problem. I disabled this add-on. All tabs are showing their correct titles.

We might have to wait for the next tabrenamizer or firefox update to regain the tab-renaming feature.

Yeah! After disabling "Tabrenamizer" eveything works fine.

I don't have Tabrenamizer but still have this annoying problem. Often happens when firefox has to be shut down and tabs are restored.
