clicked "clear list" in my mozilla firefox download window and now cannot find any of the files. they are not in the user downloads folder
i did not "save" the files to a particular location but they remained in the download window list. when i clicked on an item in the list, i had access whether i was online or not, so they are stored somewhere on my hard drive, but they are not listed in my downloads folder. searching various temp folders, and elsewhere, got me nothing. they are not in trash. where are the files?? PLS HELP!

Open firefox and in the menu, go to:
Tools > Options
Choose the "General" section (light switch icon)
There should be a downloads block there. It says something like "Save files to [_____________][Browse...]" you should be able to click on browse and see where the folder is located. Then hit CANCEL (so you don't change it by mistake before you have found it for sure)
Once you have found the files, if you would like, you can go back in and change the location setting to somewhere you would prefer if you do not like where they are saving to.
By default Firefox save downloaded file to \My Documents\Downloads\ in each logon user account.
thanks to you both. unfortunately, the default is the user "downloads" folder, and the files are not there. any other suggestions??
p.s. i tried searching the hard drive for the files using the file names, but they do not show up. i downloaded some new docs so that i would have exact file names, and while they appear in the list of the download window, they are not found by a search of the hard drive (c:/)
thnx
