Firefox 4.0.1 and 5.0 do not do incremental display of my CGI website

more options

With versions of Firefox up to 3.6.18, Firefox did and still does emit character by character what CGI script produces.

Versions 4.x and 5.x write "Transferring data from <hostname> ..." and do nothing until complete website is loaded, with no progress indicator, so user thinks site doesn't work and walks away. It is very unpleasant, for diagnostics are displayed only when it is too late to react.

Please help. Is there are about: config setting that helps the Firefox behave the old (right) way?

Try posting at the Web Development / Standards Evangelism forum at MozillaZine. The helpers over there are more knowledgeable about web page development issues with Firefox.
