When going online get message box with "xmlNode.getElementsByTagName("id")[0].firstChildisNull - >1.What causes this & how do I correct?

As it doesn't happen in Safe Mode, it is likely caused by an extension. See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes for steps on how to track down the one at fault

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
What is your homepage set to?
I'm not to savy and screens didn't appear as instructions stated, but issue did not occur when Firefox started in SafeMode. So, I deleted add - ins permenantly. All seems to be working ok now.
Didn't try with a new, empty profile since I do not know what a profile is and your first suggestion worked.
Home page is business.verizon.net
Thanks for the help.

I will try finding cause by tracking down extensions as you suggest at a later date. Thanks for the education.
