What happened to my "recently bookmarked" folder?

There used to be, on my "Bookmarks" drop-down menu, a folder: "Recently Bookmarked".

What happened to it?

If it could disappear without my knowing what I did to cause it, without knowing that I did anything, then the whole Firefox Bookmarks scheme is not very robust.

How do I recover the folder "Recently Bookmarked"?

Hi all! Firefox updated to version 29 and I love to new look but as Firefox is starting/opening it said: "Having trouble with sinc" So, I allowed my sinc file that was saved to move to another computer and boom, I lost me "recently added Folder." Also, now with Firefox 29 certain addon's don't work in Private Browsing session. Anyone know what's up? Man oh man, I love Firefox and always have but ever since "you know who" is peek-a-booing all sorts of crazy issues I Never had. You gotta love the 21st century LOL! Thanks all bye...

To be honest I do not know if that is even standard any more.

Assuming the bookmarks are not missing it will not be a problem. First of all checkyou have bookmarks as expected and that everything other wise is working as expected, are you able to add delete and export bookmarks ?

Also open the History library does that look ok (it shares the same database).

IMPORTANT never restore bookmarks without first of all backing them up, because they overwrite existing bookmarks.

The recently bookmarks folder is by the way not a proper folder but a smart search. (I know the code for the recently backed up search I will look up the one you need - that is a better solution than a reset)

  • "Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked" and "Recent Tags" are examples of so called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not real existing folders.
  • Such smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores the bookmarks and the history in Firefox.
  • Bookmarks or history items that show up in a smart folder list are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.

It may be of interest to note on some pre Release versions the recently bookmarked items are now by default inline on the menu.
