Thunderbird doesn't receive downloads from Yahoo!

My email server is Yahoo, the client is Thunderbird. Usually when I launch Thunderbird, my email is automatically downloaded from Yahoo to Thunderbird, with a message at the bottom of the screen indicating something like "downloading 1 of 14 messages", and I can see each message as it gets to my inbox, and watch the countdown. I like this. However, now I've been getting the same type of information, such as "downloading 1 of 25 .." but it never counts down, and the messages never appear in my inbox, or anywhere else that I can see. If I log directly into Yahoo, the messages that were supposedly downloading to Thunderbird are still in place in Yahoo mail! I sure hope you can help...anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. I am not an expert.

Access the account from the Yahoo website and delete the messages one at a time, starting from the oldest message since the problem arose, and see if the newer messages download to TB at some point.

There may be a message that is corrupted and blocking the rest from being downloaded.
