Every time I start Firefox 30.0, it tries to access ssl://fft.conduit-download.com located at 23.76.131.151, but is blocked by my Nod32 A/V. Is this a threat or does it need to be allowed to access that site? I believe this just started with version 30.0.

Thanks,

Firefox itself from mozilla.org is not made to do this as this is likely due to one or more Extensions you have installed as look at the toolbar related ones especially as the Conduit ones are usually Toolbars.

Tools >Addons>Extensions

Also download dot com aka cnet is a known adware site so if you downloaded anything from them recently then that could be to blame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Download.com#Adware

.

Also in credit to cor-el: You can check in "Windows Control Panel > Programs" for recently installed programs to see if anything from Conduit or any other suspicious software shows up.

  • Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall or change a program
  • Click the Installed column to sort by this heading

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to conduit and reset related user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
