When new tabs are opened I want them to open with my home page. At present opening a new tab results in an error message saying "File not Found". It never used to be a problem and i don't know what changed it.

Hello,

An extension or external application may have changed your settings. You can change your preference back in your Firefox Configuration:

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. Search for browser.newtab.url
  4. Double click or right click and select Modify, change the preference to the site that you want

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
