Hello,

Firefox remembers my search history and login details for websites even though I have "Never remember history" selected in Preferences. I have had this issue in the past but managed to resolve it by selecting one of the other options and then re-selecting the "Never remember history" option.

I use a shared computer and would like the "Never remember history" option selected permanently. I am concerned that my personal information may be compromised due to this issue with Firefox, have other users experienced such issues and is there a permanent solution available?

Regards

Adam

Is your Firefox Sync set to save ALL history, if so just un-select the History option, close Firefox then start it again.

ELSE: - - - - Which linux version ?

IF at work, does the root require history be retained ?

Try change Firefox settings so when you close FIrefox at end of session it will clear/delete/remove ALL history, then close firefox wait a minute or two then re-start Firefox to check history was removed.

IF you have root access: (a) try uninstall, (b) make sure all Firefox history is removed from your <username> profiles, details and history.

examples:
    /home/<username>/.cache/mozilla/firefox
    /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox

(c) logoff, wait few minutes (d) log in again check all firefox history was removed, IF removed then reinstall Firefox. (e) log off, then back in again after installed. (f) change Firefox settings to clear/delete/remove all history when you close FIrefox at end of session.

IF still not work, suggest browse your Linux versions own support forum for others who may have experienced and resolved.

Hello Adam-Elvin, try to clear history first (select Everything in Time range to clear) and then go to "Never remember history" again.

thank you

ideato, thank you for your help. I should have mentioned however that I have already done as you've suggested but the problem remains. To clarify these are the sequence of events,

1: Clear all history 2: Select “Never remember history”

I started Firefox yesterday and my search history along with login history was being suggested.

paulparker,

Thank you for your help. I didn't think of looking under Sync settings. Issue is now resolved. Once again thank you.
