Hi Aueninstitut

That looks like a problem with the disk cache (cache2).

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
  • Extras > Einstellungen > Erweitert > Netzwerk > Zwischengespeicherte Webinhalte: Jetzt leeren

If clearing the cache doesn't help then try to clear the disk cache manually. You can find the location of the cache on the about:cache page. You can open about: pages via the location/address bar.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Hi,

thank you for the quick reply.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to clear the cache because I can't access it. The problem is that firefox doesn't start, so I can't open the options. Is there a way to clear the chache from within windows explorer or via some comand prompt?

The location of the cache is in a hidden folder in AppData\Local

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Can you bring up the Profile Manager to try to create a new profile?
