I've updated to latest FF (v38.xx) and I can't get the option to launch browser in Private mode. My computer at work has the ability; how do I set this one up?

As mentioned above, I have a new Acer laptop that I just downloaded the latest version of FF on to. Though setting up the my preferences in the Options tab under Privacy, I no longer have the ability to automatically launch browser in Private Mode. I only have the options of "Never save History", etc.

I've got this on my older laptop which is up to date on FF versions along w/ my work computer.

How (if possible) can I get this to automatically launch in Private mode?

Thank you, Stones

Maybe you are already in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
