I just updated to Firefox 39.0.3 and it is using up a lot of RAM. Over 700 MB is being used and I have just about 5 extensions and very few plugins. What could be the problem?

You do appear to have a few video related plugins. Over 700MB is probably not much, and is likely to increase further as you use videos.
