Latest version of TB is installed. Using Config Editor I set "mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image" to "false". Despite this remote content is still not visible. Any message with remote content forwarded to MS Outlook after answering "yes" to question about remote content is displayed properly with all pictures. Is there some any other special setting that blocks remote content? Please help!

Mail Content.

  • select: 'Allow remote content in messages'
  • click on 'OK'

This quick access method in Options window has the same effect as accessing the Config Editor and setting:

  • mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image; Value = false

This will not immediately show remote content in the currently opened email displaying in the Message Pane. You would need to select another email and then reselect.

Please note that just because this setting choice is available, I would never advise allowing all remote content to display from just anyone who sends an email as it is a serious risk to compromising your privacy.

If you are viewing emails in 'Plain Text' or 'Simple HTML' mode, then you will not see any remote content regardless of selecting: 'Allow remote content in messages'. Suggest you check the viewing mode: 'View' > 'Message Body As' > select : 'Original HTML'.

I did it. Unfortunately all such settings don't work. The remote content is still not visible. I there a serious bag in TB? I have many mails from portals about electronics, math, PC technology and I want to see pics in these messages. I don't know why it is not possible.

When you receive one of those emails and select one to read in Message Pane. Do you see the following message below the headers, but above the actual message? 'To protect your privacy, thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message'
