The OPEN LINK in an email does not work on Thunderbird ver 45.0

WIN 7, system. Enough power and space. After update to 45.0 the "OPEN LINK" from a received email does not open my Firefox which is set to be the prime browser. As I first open the Firefox, then push link then the OPEN LINK works and opens the link. No add ons are active on Thunderbird at all. FF is 46.0.1 It does not work on Thunderbird in SAFE MODE either. So how to fix this??? Please explain in plain mode for me....
