Create a new Firefox Account! Your email address is the 'key' identifier for your account; there is no way to "change" it.

I have the same problem. Every online account I've ever had has an option to change the email address associated with it. I'm astounded that a tech company like Mozilla doesn't have this feature. If I have to create a new Firefox account, fine. But won't I lose all my bookmarks, history, etc?

As I said, the email address is the primary "identifier" or the user name for the account, it's not an alternate way of identifying the account.

The new account will immediately 'sync' with the server to feed your data into the new account on the server - so no, you won't lose any data. And as the other devices are connected to the new Sync account any data that differs will get sync'd to the server.

Firefox Accounts has morphed from Sync accounts, where a separate user name was used in the first 1.0 version and the users email address was just a secondary "identifier". The "username" was whatever the user chose; "true name", nickname, or whatever; I don't think the @ character was allowed, iirc. For reasons unknown to me that was changed in late 2010 with the 1.1 version of Sync, which I didn't like for the reason that you mentioned - account is made defunct if the user changes the email account or loses it by changing ISP's.

I don't think the-edmeister is quite correct. If you just want to change your email address so Mozilla can send information to you then you can change your email by logging in to your Mozilla account. The log in should be available on this Mozilla Support page at the top. On the new page that opens when you log in, right at the top, it should have your user name. If you hover over that it will give options. Click on edit account and you can change your email. Your old user name and email will still show up as your account name but Mozilla will have the new email to send you necessary information. Then, as long as you have a good memory, you won't have to worry about Mozilla getting email to you. When somebody at Mozilla gets time they should tweak that.

Firefox Account for Sync is different than the registration used for this forum. The email address used for accounts for this forum can be edited and changed; but not for Sync / Firefox Accounts.

I have seen mention that the registration system for Sync / Firefox Accounts may get changed to allow the user to change their email address, but I doubt if that will happen any time soon.

This thread is about Firefox sync accounts like mentioned in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer

What you are referring to is the account used for https://support.mozilla.org/

Two different accounts.
