Something odd has happened with the last update, or perhaps last 2 updates, to Firefox on Windows (48.0)

When I start Firefox it loads my homepage (google advanced search) just fine. The focus is set to the search box (find pages with all these words) just fine. I start typing, and the first few characters are displayed just fine.

But then there is a long pause where no additional characters are displayed while I continue to type. I'm guessing, but I think the delay in 5 seconds or so. And then after that delay period the characters that I typed finally appear. This does not happen again as long as Firefox remains running. But if I close and restart - the same thing happens again

This is obviously not a critical issue, but for a mediocre typist like me it is very inconvenient to have to wait until Firefox is in the mood to start showing my input again.

Thanks in advance to all

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?
