Many websites I visit, -especially ones with articles and ads- load additional content (presumably ads) at frequent intervals. You can see the activity in the status bar. The webpage is obviously requesting and loading ad content.

Basically what I want is an extention that makes the webpage just sit there and do nothing.

You could consider to install uBlock Origin, which should stop the loading of additional 'bleep' :
