Why does TBird misdirects valid "alert" messages from B of A to a "Trash" folder

more options

I get "alert" emails from my bank (Bank of America), which has a "from" address that is in my address books. TBird 52.x, as well as earlier versions, invariably puts these messages directly into the "Trash" folder instead of the InBox. I have no active message or junk filters that would cause this to happen. (You can only delete stuff or put it in the "Junk" folder.) What does TBird have against my bank's "alert" messages? I might miss an important alert message if I don't remember to check the "Trash" folder.

The "from" address for these alerts is onlinebanking@ealerts.bankofamerica.com

I think that might fix it.... I have heard of the McAfee extension doing exactly as you claim.

is your mail account IMAP or POP?

eMail is POP. And the problem is not restricted to B of A alerts. The mail appears to have been marked a read and deleted to Trash without any action from me.

What add-ons do you have? I have seen this before with add-ons associated with security software particularly.

One was Lightning, which I just removed. The only other add-on is the McAfee Anti-Spam email protection, which TBird says is turned off. McAfee said it was ON, so I just turned it off in McAfee.

We'll see what happens with the next "alert."
