Beyond the default firefox anything more would require userChrome.css to makes changes to what your looking for unless there isn't a version for the tab.

Could you explain what the default is? These are pined tabs on one line and the line is almost full.

Thanks for your help. Everything seems OK but new tabs just are smaller and there is no second line. So, is the second line automatic or do I have to do something?

I think the size ot the tabs depends on how many you add to a row.

But I was just thinking that (even though it's something completely different) you might be interested in this :

Yes, the new tab size is a function on the room on the line and they get smaller was you add new ones. The suggested extension has some new ideas but no second line. So, back to how to get that second line. The last note was" '''''Restart FF and you should have multi row tabs''''''

Well, I suggested you'd take a look at the "tree style tabs"
add-on ..... (even though that may not be what you want right now).

The article talked about saving the profile -- good idea. But not about adding the second line. In fact, it seems you can't on the latest version 63.

I read it again and the comments are that FF doesn't support it and those people are going to Chrome! So, FF, please return the feature. I will work on the extension referenced as time permits. Again, thanks for your help but FF needs to made this simple change, post haste.

No, I added the "chrome" folders to FF but it didn't work. All this is getting too complicated for me. All I wanted was an easy fix but it's not to be.

It's not simple, no, not simple. When I test the old rules from the December 2017 post in Firefox 63.0.1, it still works for me, but as I recall, it was a finicky solution (if you tried to drag anything to or from an upper row of tabs, strange things happened).

As a person who generally has 5 windows open with different sets of tabs for different projects/interests, I can only imagine how overwhelming it would be to have all my tabs in a single window. That would make it way too hard to "see" where things are.

Do you find the "all tabs" button useful? That's the icon which appears at the right end of the tabs bar once Firefox starts showing the scrolling buttons at the end of your tabs. Unlike stubby little tabs, you can actually see the full pages titles on the drop-down:
