I used the previous version of firefox to catalog and save over ten thousand emails in five level subfolders. I saved "Local Folders" before installing current version of Firefox. During the install I failed to properly reference the old folders, now I have tried a dozen suggested approaches from the community, but none worked. > "import" > copy from saved to file created with windows in mailbox:///C:/Users/hanse/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/m4vfvavk.default-release/Mail/Local Folders/ > copy as above only to "local folder" created in Firefox. Performed each of the above both with simply closing Firefox, and by restarting after each step.

$100. to the first working approach!

re :I used the previous version of firefox ....

Please confirm you mean Thunderbird. What version were you using ?

re : I saved "Local Folders"

How did you do this ? Did you fo the following:

  • Exit Thunderbird
  • access the profile name folder
  • click on 'Mail' folder
  • Copy the 'Local Folders' folder and paste it somewhere outside of Thunderbird eg: on your desktop.

If no, then explain exactly what you did.

What exactly have you got saved in the backup copy?

  • Select the backup copy of the 'Local Folders' folder to see contents.

Make sure you have 'View' > 'Details' so date and size etc columns are visible.

  • Post an image showing contents.

You installed latest version I presume this is version 78.1.1 so now I need to know what is going on in the current Thunderbird.

  • Access the profile name folder and click on 'Mail' folder
  • Post an image showing the contents of the 'Mail' folder.
  • click on 'Local Folders' folder
  • Post an image showing the contents of the 'Local Folders' folder.
