Global search feature in Thunderbird only returning SENT messages when clicking through

When I enter a term in the search box (aka ctrl+K), then press ENTER, I get the expected list of hits, but when I click on any of those headings to see the actual message in a new window, I don't get the message; instead I get a related SENT message of mine. In fact the entire list of messages revealed in the pane above are all SENT messages. How can I expand the message whose heading I clicked on following the search?

Thought I'd check here before filing a bug report.

Thanks.

Dave

Try rebuilding the search database and repeat the search. Global Search sometimes produces incorrect results if messages have been deleted but the database hasn't updated.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database

The rebuild may take a while, depending on the number of messages. Progress can be monitored in Tools/Activity Manager.
