Restore print preview under file
Print preview disappeared today. This happened about a year ago and I was able to restore it by entering about:config in the address bar, enter, accept the risk, type tab_mo in the search box and switch between true and false (false is classic esperience I want to restore). Well, false is not working.

Hi, in Firefox 97, the old code for the old preview was removed. For now, we only have the combined preview/setup/print overlay.
What are the differences that you're noticing between the old and new experiences that make you want to restore the old one?
The previous method was both faster and simpler. Everything was on the left side at the top. You hit file, then print preview and made adjustments which were quick, then print dialog box.
With this format, you hit file on the top left, then print, then you have to look on the right side for a window pane and scroll through it to see all the options, of which there are way too many! If you want to adjust the size of the document, you have to hit the mouse 10 times to go from 100% to 90%, twenty times if you want to go from 100% to 80% etc. Then, to go back to the dialog box, you are back to looking up on the left side at the top. Eyes are darting everywhere. This is not an improvement. At least allow the option to use the old format. Maybe you should have less "techy" people evaluate your proposed changes before you subject everyone to them.

Oh, that is one way to call it up. By default, the menu bar is hidden on Windows and you would use either:
- menu button at the right end of the toolbar > Print
- Ctrl+P keyboard shortcut
- if text is selected, right-click > Print Selection
then you have to look on the right side for a window pane and scroll through it to see all the options, of which there are way too many! If you want to adjust the size of the document, you have to hit the mouse 10 times to go from 100% to 90%, twenty times if you want to go from 100% to 80% etc.
You can type in the number you want, no need to click.

I don't know why the system dialog shows up at the left every time instead of the center or where I moved it last. Hopefully they can improve that. But do you really need to call the system dialog? I guess it depends on what settings are missing from the panel because if everything is covered, you just click the blue Print button at the bottom right.

This is the default print experience since Firefox 85 and has received a number of improvements over the past year. But many people who opted out were not commenting until yesterday and today. It's not too late for more changes, but it's kind of late.
There are bugs on file to provide an opt-out of the preview (direct to system dialog) and to create a new keyboard shortcut for direct to system dialog. However, the old separate Print Preview and Page Setup are not coming back. At least, I would be really surprised if they come back.
I opted out because it wasn't efficient. Why would I have stayed with it since you gave the option to not use the change?
'You can type in the number you want, no need to click.' Really? That requires first deleting the number that is there, and then filling in what you want and that assumes you know in advance what number you want.
However, the old separate Print Preview and Page Setup are not coming back. At least, I would be really surprised if they come back. Picture an unhappy face...........
How would you propose to handle the scaling? You can submit a proposal here:
