I have a mac. I had an old version of firefox and upgraded to 3.6.8. with my old version of firefox, when I download a wmv file from a site it would ask were to save, no with 3.6 it opens the file in safari.

Go to Edit -> Preferences. If that option doesn't appear, it might be under Tools -> Options. Once that window is open, click on Applications and scroll down to WMV or WMV Video or something along those lines. Click the text in the Action column once to select it, then again to open the dropdown list. Change it to Save File.

That should do it!
