a 6 cm wide column headed "History" on the left side of my browser window takes up so much space that there is not enough left for the actual web page, forcing me to keep scrolling horizontally to read it. very annoying. How can i remove that column ?

Press the key called CTRL on your keyboard together with the letter "H".

I abbreviated it and wrote "Hit CTRL+H" if you look above. ;)

You're welcome.

Incidentally, there's a button you can add to the toolbar which you can use to access (and close) history in the sidebar. To get it do the following:

  1. Right click a blank part of the Tab bar and choose Customize.

  2. Find the button which looks like a clock showing 5 O'clock and drag that onto the toolbar (along with anything else you might consider useful).

  3. Click "Done" to close the panel.

Clicking that button will toggle history in the sidebar on and off. See screenshot.
