My blog is 101American.com Yesterday and today, words like "fat," "free," and "Power," appeared in green and double underlined. When cursor put over them an ad popped up. One was for a "free iPod." Clicking produced a loud audio message. I've informed Weebly, but the ad is not present until I Publish. Very disturbed by this intrusion, which is nothing less than stealing. Much appreciate help.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.
A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item, click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled... while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

After disabling all extensions, the pirate ads disappeared from my blog. But I am worried that this practice is befouling my blog for others. Who are the purveyors of this form of larceny?

Did you figure out which add-on was causing it?

I disabled all add-ons, which seems to have erased the ads. A reader told me I had an infection of Trojans, something I may have read about once, but never experienced. How can you learn exactly which add-on is from a Trojan? Much appreciate what you taught me. Who needs add-ons at such a price?
