Why doesn't the 'Open a new tab' tab and the 'New Tab' option under 'File' create a new tab like it once did?

There is a tab on the tab line that allowed you to create a new tab by clicking it. You can also create a new tab by going to File at the top of the page and selecting New Tab. This is not working and has not worked for several weeks. What has happened that has stopped this functionality from working as it should?

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

Your system details show that toolbar in the user agent as AskTbARS/3.13.1.18107

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I disabled the Ask.com toolbar and my tab issue has been resolved. Thanks for the quick response.
