Since updating to FF8 i have had a number of issues

- Menus and drop down menus appear transparent when you mouse over them. This includes the address bar, form fields, right click menus, main menu from firefox button. This is fixed if it is running in safe mode.

- Not all images load on webpages such as twitter.com, or the bbc.co.uk it's not an issue with their servers as they load fine in chrome.

- As well as images not all CSS loads. JS may also not load.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 and later Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
