I have set everything up and it is working .. and do not want to update Firefox. Each time I open Firefox I am getting two tabs - the Homepage and a page telling me I am using an older version offering a free download of 8.0.1.

I have set 16 computers up in an Internet Cafe .. I do not want to update .. everything is working.

I know that I can go edit - preferences - advanced - update .. and un-check add-on and search engine updates and on one PC I did not do this. This is the one which keeps opening the update page.

I thought OK .. un-install & install again that would fix .. but no.

How do I get rid of this update page ??

You can check the home page setting and set another page as the home page.

That text about not running the latest Firefox version is in the code of the www.google.com/firefox site that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page and Google doesn't seem to maintain that page anymore.
Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google site as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page.
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update.

Hi cor-el

Thanks for your reply .. but the page which is opening in Firefox is this ... http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

My home page was set to google.com And I have tried changing it ..

But still get this update page opening every time ..

Is there a file in the Firefox folder I can delete .. or something to make this go away .. or do I have to install Ubuntu from scratch just to get rid of this page.
