I want to uninstall the yahoo toolbar permanently, but the "Extensions" manager is blank
I have read many support forums for how to uninstall the yahoo toolbar. Some suggested unchecking it in the "options" menu, which hides it but doesn't remove it permanently (which I have done). Others said the only way to remove it permanently is to go to "Add-ons manager", click on "Extensions", find the yahoo toolbar and delete it. Everyone has said that has worked for them. However, when I do this, the "Extensions" menu is blank. So I can't scroll down and find it because there is nothing there. So my questions is two-fold: why is my "Extensions" blank when others have said this work for them? And then how to I uninstall this blasted toolbar?

hello, this sounds like the files in your profile folder that store the information about your extensions might have become corrupted. please go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile - show folder... then windows explorer should open up your profile folder. in there look for the files named extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite, extensions.sqlite-journal (and in some cases also extensions.txt, extensions.rdf). delete or rename those files and quit firefox, they will be regenerated the next time you launch firefox.

Thank you. That worked. I also found a "Yahoo" folder in that file and deleted it, and the toolbar has vanished.
I found the solution
I had installed another program, and it asked me about installing the Yahoo Toolbar, I said NO"", but when I went to open Firefox, there was the dumb toolbar. I searched in my computer, in the add-ons for Firefox and nothing, could not find it anywhere. What I found was if you reset your "Homepage" there it was. I just changed my homepage back to default. Apparently it is not a real toolbar...just re-directs your homepage. Go to 'Tools', 'Options', then under 'General' tab.
