I cannot open "Show All Bookmarks"
I can import and export html bookmarks, but I when I use the drop down menu Bookmarks, and see Show All Bookmarks, the command does not execute. I cannot Show All Bookmarks. I deleted Mozilla, and Firefox, then used Safari to download a new Firefox 24.0. I restarted by MacBook Pro, but STILL- I cannot Show All Bookmarks. THEREFORE- I cannot delete or edit my bookmarks. ???

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Sorry- but using the keyboard commands does not open "Show All Bookmarks." I am sorry but I am a former webmaster, email administrator, and CNA. When I said I could not "Show All Bookmarks," I actually meant it. wow. Thank you very much for your suggestion to try keyboard commands, instead of the drop down menus, but hey- no go.
I also deleted the Mozilla support, library, etc. Users, System. App Support. re installed Firefox, but still not able to open "Show All Bookmarks"... whether by keyboard or otherwise.
Do you mean that you tried a new and clean profile?
Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)
Nope- looked again in the library- NO plist files for Firefox. They do not get re-created at Firefox startup. Same w/ profile. No go.
How were you able to import and export bookmarks to HTML format? That implies you were able to open the Library dialog (unless the Mac UI is very different than the Windows UI).
Each of these opens the Library dialog to a different category of data:
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks (or Command+Shift+b)
- History > Show All History (or Command+Shift+h)
- Tools > Downloads (or Command+j)
If you try switching around among them using the navigation bar on the left, can you get any of your places data to display?
The commands line with drop down menu shows import/export html files... but the actual bookmarks and history do not show. I think I need to delete my profile in Mozilla and start completely over? Even reset Firefox does not help... still I cannot actually "Show All Bookmarks," (or history, for that matter. So I cannot sort, edit, delete etc bookmarks or history. Also- there are no Firefox or Mozilla prefs in the Library. Zilch.
I deleted the places.sqlite file. Bingo- problem all solved-
WOW- YA DA MAN!!! thanks....
