I downloaded and installed several animated lightening themes from your site and these use to work in an earlier version of Firefox. Now the only way they animate is by disabling and then re-enabling them but when I close Firefox, I have to do the same again so the animation works. Everything is up to date and I have followed all the steps disabling and running safe mode etc. but it makes no difference ... Same issue. I have removed Firefox, restored Firefox, updated Firefox, down dated Firefox, but the system auto updates to the latest automatically and the themes are back once again not working.

Sorry......I was just too impulsive. ( Maybe because it was 4 AM at Taiwan, and I was still trying to solve the problem= = )

Although to install the add-on "Personas Shuffler" can solve the problem to me, I don't think it was the BEST solution. This evening, I read why the add-on "Personas Shuffler" was made, and found that the BEST solution is:

1. Open a new tab, and type "about:config" at the URL bar, then search for "lightweightthemes" with the filter.

2. Change the values of "lightweightThemes.persisted.footerURL" and "lightweightThemes.persisted.headerURL" from true to false( by double click on them).

3. After doing so, restart Firefox and you will see it works! You don't have to install any add-on.

Hi Centarion,

To better assist you, what is the name of the plug in you downloaded the animated lightening themes from?

If the developer is active, reaching out to them would give a better idea for other users also having the issue with the themes as well.

The name of the plug-in is "Animated-Lightening" by BRIMS7ON3 and it was your website

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=animated-lightning&cat=themes

The only place to get themes that are suppose to work. It isn't the only one. ANY animated theme installed does the same thing. Like I said no matter what animated theme I install, it has teh same issue where many Firefox versions ago worked fine. I have the same issue on every pc and laptop I own. 3 desktops, 4 laptops, 3 tablets and an iPhone. Your next suggestion please.

Ok so I tried the plugin you suggested and when I turned off the animation on the tabs the lightning background stopped moving after a period of time. Any new window I opened in the session also does not start the animation.

However, when

  1. I went to Tools>Add ons
  2. clicked on the gear on the Extensions page I disabled and then re-enabled the animated background

The result was that the animation started over. [http://mzl.la/MAyOQc]

This issue is a documented bug and has been worked on for a while. Please feel free to track the changes on this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=731974 http://mzl.la/MAyOQc

Thankyou, so any idea of how long it will take to fix this problem? I know many others that have the same issue and are annoyed by it however in the meantime I shall patiently await its scripting repair.

I got this problem, too.

This is the theme I installed: https://addons.mozilla.org/zh-TW/firefox/addon/adventure-time-with-f-422324-1/

I know that if I changed to the default one, and then change back, it will be animated again, but this solution is just too annoying, and every time you restart your Firefox, you have to do it again( if you want the theme to be animated) .

Hope this problem can be fixed soon. Thanks Centarion and rmcguigan.
