A website I've used for years I suddenly can't get to using Firefox, but I can using Internet Explorer. When I try to go to it in Firefox I get a blank white screen in the browser. I tried all the usual troubleshooting techniques (disabling add-ons, resetting Firefox, deleting cookies and temp files) and nothing helps.

I have Webroot anti-virus and it hasn't detected anything; scans run automatically every day.

Are there any special icons on the location bar that Firefox is blocking content?

You can get a possibly colored Lego icon on the left end of the location bar that indicates that Firefox is blocking a plugin.

You can check if there is a shield icon to the left of the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar that mixed active content is blocked.

You can use these steps in case of issues with web pages:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Thank you very much. Clearing the cookies for the site did the trick.
