I have fat fungers and don't get along well with touch sfreens. I keep backing up and closing Firefox Android with some sort of un-intentional movement on the screen. I'm sure these gesture functions are helpful to some, but to me they are a major nuisance. The gestures are shut off on my pjone. They don't work in any app except Firefox. How can I shut them off? I am using a s-5.

i do not know if you can turn them off. However there is an entry you can experiment with: gestures.enable_single_finger_input

This did not seem to do much for me.
