I backed up my Thunderbird email using MozBackup. I moved the email to a new computer and restored it there.

When I search for an email message (one of the ones moved in the backup process), the message shows up in my search results list and several lines of the message are displayed. But if I click the message, the content is completely empty. Not even the parts that are displayed in the search results show up.

Why does this happen? Is there anyway to fix it?

Try to rebuild the index. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database

Depending on the size of your email archive this may take a while.

Thanks! Rebuilding the index seemed to fix it! I haven't run across any empty messages so far. I had a LOT of messages! (Around 13,000!) So it took overnight to complete the index.
