how can I tansfer my Thunderbird account settings onto a new clean install on Windows 7?
Hello,
I am about to do a new fresh install of my Windows 7 and I was wondering if it is possible to somehow transfer/copy the account settings on Thunderbird, so I won't have to set up everything form scratch again upon re-installing. What I mean is all the different e-mail accounts, folders and e-mail filters etc that I have set up. Is there a way I can transfer all that onto a fresh install of Thunderbird on my new Windows 7 install? This would save me a lot of time and work. I am not talking about transferring e-mails (I know how to do that manually), but all the account settings and such.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Lars

Yes, it is all stored in what is called the profile. This is a set of folders that can be copied from one computer or installation to another. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb?esab=a&s=profiles&r=1&as=s The profile includes your stored email messages too.
Thank you very much! So all I need to do is install Thunderbird and then copy the profile folder from my old installation into the new install? And that will automatically also transfer all the e-mails in all the different folders and sub-folders (including archives)?

Yes! You got it.
Thank you very much!
One last question with regard to this: Do I just copy the Profile folder (even though it might have a different name on the new installation of TB) OR do I copy and past all the contents of the old profile folder into the new profile folder?
