shortcuts from desktop to some sites quit working
Started having problem as of today (7/16/16) Tried making new shortcuts but problem persists, Instead of going to site it sits at the home page (blank in my case) But from the home page if shortcut is still visible clicking on it goes where I wanted to go in the first place. I have not figured out the behavior pattern, I got one of them going to an AOL mail page to work consistently. What do I need to do to make them to work normally. None of them are blocked as I can get to any one of them from the home page by clicking on a bookmark. Your help will be appreciated. George

Is this all the time, sometimes? Can you post some of these links?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?

Yes starting in safe mode helped. It seems to stay in safe mode for a while. If the computer gets reset then you would have to start browser in safe mode.
But what is it all about. Very confusing! How do I get it to work without having to hold down shift button? I believe all sites are affected. Sometimes a shortcut from desktop to Netscape behaves normally,
I would like to get it to work normally. Thanks George
Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.
It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
I found a pattern. Solved my problem.
My culprit is/was FINDWIDE SEARCH ENGINE.
Disabling enabling it made the difference. Shortcut from desktop worked ok when this feature was disabled and computer reset. George
That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
