What happens if you just use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T that should create a new tab.

How about if you right click on any link and use open link in new tab ?

Ctrl+T only brings back previous tabs   ......
And I really don't get   click on any link and use open link in new tab   ---   where ;   how   ?

Being new to computers you may have difficulty keeping the mouse pointer in the correct place. Do not move the cursor diagonally stay within the dialogue boxes. If you move out of the area it will disappear.

Maybe its easier initially using the keyboard. Select some link. For instance move the mouse pointer to the time link of one of these forum posts. The mouse cursor will change from an arrow to a hand. Now press the Keyboard Menu key (Usually bottom right , under the Shift key) Next as appropriate use the Keyboard Up or down Arrow the selection highlight should move, press Enter to use the selection.

I don't have a mouse ;   just a touchpad and a touchscreen.
'Tried a mouse in the store where I bought this laptop;   hated it,   so I didn't get it.
But:   could it be that we are getting our signals crossed here  ?
When I'm talking about wanting to create new tabs,   I mean:   tabs for websites I don't already have tabs for;   --- 'know what I mean   ?

OOPs probably pressing the menu key on such a link does not help you will need to right click the link. Then use th eup/down arrow key.

Clicking on that + has the same effect as Ctrl+T:   a new tab   ...... but   new tab   in this case means:   another   (already existing)   tab   --   I want to create a tab for a   new   website   ......

Keyboards vary slightly. But there will be a group of cursor keys with arrows pointing up down right and left probably under and to the right of the Enter key.

I clicked on the screenshot to see the full size and there it is:   that's what I've been trying to tell you:   I don't have that option that says:   open link in new tab   --   I've been looking for it and looking again   ........ nothing   !
I've made a screenshot that'll show you that I already   have   ten tabs   .......   all I want is to add some tabs   ..... (by the way:   that   'page2'   is   'old news')

Ok we are getting there. When you have a new tab open. Or any tab for that matter.

1. Get some address or link and copy it such as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1132955#answer-901934 so use right click and save location
2. Move the cursor to the addressbar WHILST in the new blank or whatever tab. ( Ctrl+L would work) Clear the current address (Ctrl+A, Del would work ) type in or paste in some valid address (Ctrl+C would work)

• Press Enter the webpage should open

Slightly easier options for getting something in a new tab

• Just put the cursor in the new tabs addresss bar, start typing and select something from the dropdown list.
• Select any folder from bookmarks and select open all as tabs.(Best done in a new Window so you can clear them again quickly)
• Select any file that will open in Firefox and right click and take the option to open with Firefox, it will open in a new tab, or new window

Just a minute later:
All prepared to go and do what you told me to do   ........   had a surprise waiting for me:   tile numer 11   (check out the new screenshot)   --   how did it get there   ???
Just like the other ten tiles:   all of a sudden,   out of the blue,   they were there   --   and right there where I wanted them to be   ........ ????
(and   yes, in the mean time Im listening to the Shadows final tour)
What on earth is going on   ?   How come I can't create a tile when and where I want it   ?
This is driving me nuts :   I wind up getting the tiles I want,   but I haven't a clue how they got there   .........
It just hit me:   I should have called them   tiles   in stead of   'new tabs' ....... (sorry   !)

I do not often use the newtab page. I would have to read the help articles myself to see what the latest information is.

At one time they just filled up with your most visited tabs * becoming tiles. Then some bright spark tried to monetise them, and initially most of them, or most of them for new users would effectively be adverts. That never worked and so what were the adverts now are Mozilla etc information. Checking a newish profile it had 5 mozilla tiles and five blank spaces.

Not actually most visited, it used the frecency algorithm, but got tweaked to favour adverts. Effectively it had a bias built in so that adverts showed first and it was slow to populate from the browsing History.

That small page is the bookmarks Library or Bookmarks Manger. Keyboard Shortcut Ctrl+Shift+B it is a special page and will not normally be as a tab but as its own Window. (Nowadays has History and Douwnloads details in it as well as Bookmarks)

Yes it is my bedtime. But it is 1 hour earlier over here so it is only Midnight.

This whole   'tile/tab-problem'  really is a luxury problem,   isn't it   ?
Yesterday though I spent hours and hours on another support forum, trying to help some guy recover the recycle bin he had   'lost'&nbsp .....
Turned out he was just having some fun and wanted to see how long it would take for me to finally give up.
I spent most of my birthday looking for some bin that was never lost in the first place   .......
Well,  at least now I know how to look for lost files and stuff ......
Is there anything else you think I should know   ???
