how do I identify what each file in profile does so that I can restore my emails when thunderbird is unable to restore all at once?

Windows7, start from sleep mode, checkdisk wanted to run, after this when I started thunderbird it started as though I had just installed it. I found the profile, copied it to another computer and tried to pick it into thunderbird but it failed to load. I would like to identify which files are the minimum I need to copy into a new profile, to recover emails and lightning calendar. Is there a list of file names showing what each does and which are essential?
