Thunderbird goes non responsive on first "click" after opening
When I open Thunderbird as soon as I try to do anything it goes unresponsive so I cannot use the Thunderbird tools new mails download OK Also when I try to copy the profile there is an error copying an I/O file so guess thats why I have a problem I am running Windows 7 professional
Can I please have a muppets guide of how to rename an old profile and create a new profile with all my existing info without opening up Thunderbird

What is your anti-virus software?
I had to update my Bitdefender from 2015 version to 2017 version so it was necessary to strip out 2015 and install 2017. Unfortunately all did not go well and I had to do it twice. So its quite possible this caused the problem so I stripped out Bitdefender again and with no antivirus I still had the same problem So whether it caused the problem or not I think I have a corrupt file in my Profile
Try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled. - Win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode - Win8 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17076/windows-8-startup-settings-safe-mode - Win7 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

Does the problem go away?
Hi there
Starting in Safe Mode with Networking, if I first disable WiFi and start Thunderbird then all my 3 email accounts appears OK and no freezing however once I open up WiFi, two of the accounts appear to work but trying to use the third everything freezes and it looks like its trying to download mail from the server but nothing happening I dont want to delete this account as there are many local files which I dont want to loose and probably they were not saved when I tried to copy my Profile and I had issues
What's the account type of the 3rd account - POP or IMAP?
What's the size of the Inbox?
Hi There
its an IMAP account, server says its 802MB, is this too big?
The profile is 17MB
Hope this helps
Relieved to say that once I realised that by disabling my WiFi I could get into Thunderbird without it feeezing I also realised that I could delete and reinstall my problem mail account without losing any data which I have done and all now appears OK Thanks to Christ1 for his help

That's quite a bit. Inbox is most susceptible to corruption. It is therefore recommended to keep the Inbox as tidy as possible.
